The Charles cut is named after the man himself Charles "Frenchie" Copin. As an immigrant from France moving to a small town in Southern Illinois, Frenchie immediately became a town legend. He opened a bar called the 9 oh 9 where he played pool, smoked his pipe, and served his town. He had an innate ability to make anyone feel like they were worth something. He knew what it was to be American and others looked up to him for it.
