**Hand-blown glass shaped by the heartwood of carob trees** The heartwood is the hard, dense inner section of a tree—the good stuff. In Portugese, heartwood is “cerne,” which is also the name of this line of whisky glassware from Portugal’s Vicara. Using molds made from carob tree heartwood, hand-blown glass takes on the shape and pattern of natural wood, creating a finished piece that feels solid in your hand and looks like it somehow melds two materials—the clarity of glass with the texture of wood.
